Bear & Bird Gallery is located inside TATE'S Comics was established in '93 by Tate Ottati and the young age of 17. TATE'S is family owned and operated and is constantly evolving to stay fresh and interesting. Tate's wife, Amanda, has been involved with TATE'S since '96, when it was a much smaller, more traditional comic book store. After years of hard work and support from family & friends, Tate and Amanda grew TATE'S into the 6,000 square foot pop culture hot-spot that it is today.

16 of Mothersbaugh's framed Beautiful Mutant prints were displayed at Bear and Bird for this exhibition, and Mark's Most Powerful Healing Music In The Entire World CD set was played throughout the night.

Mark's Beautiful Mutants hardcover book, which was released late last year by Grand Central Art Center at Cal State Fullerton, was available at the Bear & Bird reception. This was only the 2nd time the books have been available at one of Mark's art shows.

Notable faces at the show included artists Skot Olsen, Nik Satterfield and Torchy Taboo, and electronic musician Elyse (who is one half of the band Evil Twin).

Special thanks to Tate & Amanda for hosting a great show! We've heard many good things about Tate's Comics/Bear & Bird Gallery.

Neither Mark Mothersbaugh nor I could attend the reception, unfortunately...but Amanda graciously supplied us with all the photos & press for this show report.

See a great review by DIY Miami.
