"Sorry, Mark is not here." These were the most spoken words of the night as Mark Mothersbaugh's Beautiful Mutants gallery tour rolled into Boston. About one hundred spuds attended the gallery opening on Thursday October 20th at the Paradise Lounge in Boston MA. Attendees included local art fans, fans of Devo, one psychologist, and Cheetah Chrome's sister-in-law. Among spuds in attendance was Professor VonMarko of the Spudboys. While viewing the prints the crowd was sonically assaulted by Devo's EZ Listening Disc and Muzik For Insomniaks Vol. 1 and 2. Peter DeVincent and Tom Keirstead worked the crowd to answer as many questions as possible because Mark and Michael Pilmer were both unable to attend.  The showing attracted spuds of all ages. The most talked about print of the night was Eggboy.  All the sales were handled by Ami Bennett a local art promoter. Tom bought Well, KooKooRooKoo, To You to add to his other five adopted pieces.

This was the first time since 1988 that Boston has held a Devo related event. Judging by the enthusiasm of the crowd, Boston needs more Devo!

At the end of the night four prints sold but Mark's mutants will be on display until November 27, 2005. Ami is going to try to bring the Postcard Diaries to Boston sometime in 2006. Hopefully both Mark and Michael will be able to attend.
