------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After
a 4 year hiatus, the DEVOtional Fan Gathering returned in 2014!
The DEVOtional 2010 was followed by a few years hiatus
as the spuds who typically make it happen took a break
and re-grouped. It takes a lot of energy, time, and
a little $$$ to make these things happen, and it just
wasn't coming together until Nick Ciasullo and a few
other dedicated spuds stepped up to make something
happen in 2014.
Our special guests included Nicole Stoehr (former lead
singer of Disney's DEVO 2.0 project back in 2006), artist
KRK Ryden, and Gerald V. Casale of DEVO. Lots of great
bands performed on both nights.
We had one band cancel (THOTS from NYC), and Evie Nagy,
one of our special guests & the author of the upcoming
33 1/3 Book on DEVO's "Freedom Of Choice"
album, had to cancel because she was busy having a baby,
but we are confident she will be at next year's event.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friday,
Aug. 15 - Bands @ Beachland Tavern People started filing
into the Beachland Tavern relatively early...and by
6pm the doors were officially open, and the room was
filled with mutants, spuds, devotees, and the like.
Most were wearing their choice of protective gear in
the way of Energy Domes, Spud Collars, DEVO T-Shirts,
and even a few custom-made items.

Oddly
enough, there was a rave dance party going on in the
Beachland Ballroom while we were having our Friday
night DEVOtional in the Beachland Tavern. Very strange...as
the music volume was SO low...we couldn't even hear
it in the next room. It was extremely low. I mean
like WAAAYY low. I was so intrigued that I walked
next door, into the dance area, and right up to the
speakers, and I couldn't feel anything coming out
of them! You know how you can feel the bass at a live
show? Nope. Nothing. Devolved! But the raver kids
were happy & having fun, and it was good to see
costumed ravers hanging out with domed DEVOtees outside
the venue.
I'm all for humans in costume of any kind.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Saturday,
Aug. 16 - DEVOtional @ Beachland
I
showed up first on Saturday at around 11am to prepare
my table of DEVOtional event T-Shirts & other
spudwazz. Shortly after that other spuds started showing
up to help with set up. Doors opened at 2pm, and the
first band started sometime before 3pm. (Lieutenant
Dance was the first band...and they were INCREDIBLE!
We hope to have them back next year to play later
in the night). The day went by SO fast with all the
bands, speakers, and socializing going on. Check out
the photos and videos below!
