1819
Central Gallery is a music-themed gallery
& studio located in KC's blossoming arts district...and
is relatively new to the area, starting in July 2009.
The space also serves as a guitar shop & audio recording
studio, and already has a strong following locally &
online.
Scott Burnett, of 1819 Central Gallery,
reached out to us sometime last year and said that he
wanted one of 1819 Central's first shows to feature the
art of Mark Mothersbaugh, and we agreed, of course...delighted
to bring Mark's artwork to Kansas City, Missouri for the
first time ever.
This show, titled We Must Repeat!, featured 2
mediums using Mark Mothersbaugh's Postcard Diaries
images: Framed prints and his very own custom art rugs.
Mark Mothersbaugh was not able to attend in person, but
was able to squeeze a 30 minute video chat into his schedule.
Gallery guests asked Mark about DEVO, his artwork, his
work on Yo Gabba Gabba!, etc...and Mark dutifully
answered from his home in Hollywood, CA.
See select moments from Mark's live video chat here.
Coincidentally, a DEVO concert was confirmed for Kansas
City, MO just minutes after Mark's video chat came to
an end. (Get DEVO's full tour schedule at clubdevo.com)

info on the opening reception.
See an interview with Mark about the 1819 Central art
show on KansasCity.com.

Street Journal (featuring 1819 Central Gallery &
Mark's rugs!)
Hope to see my pals in Kansas City again soon!
