Andenken Gallery is located at 2990 Larimer Street in Denver, Colorado.

Tom Horne, the gallery director, was out of town curating a Barack Obama art show in DC for the inauguration. Hyland Mather is Tom's partner in the gallery, who currently resides in Amsterdam. Greta Oberschmidt is the gallery manager and was present for the opening reception.
They have been active in the Denver art scene for nearly 10 years.

The space is large, featuring a front room gallery space, with 2nd floor loft office overlooking, and a bar/performance room in the rear of the building. The walls are covered with a variety of stencil & graffiti art. There are also a couple stores/studios in the space run by other creative individuals.

20 of Mark Mothersbaugh's framed Postcard Diaries prints were featured at Andenken Gallery, including a couple brand new prints which made their public debut at this particular exhibit.

Mark Mothersbaugh was not able to attend in person, but we were able to host a live video chat from his home in Hollywood. He answered questions from DEVO fans about his visual art, the band, etc.

Magic Cyclops performed a set of his original music and DJ'd from his collection of 80's tracks for most of the night, which really appealed to all the kids at the reception, who were basically throwing themselves around on the floor during his show.

Andrew Novick was at the reception, passing out flyers for his upcoming art show titled The Astounding Problem Of Andrew Novick. Andrew is known for his role in the infamous Warlock Pinchers, a band from CO circa late 80's/early 90's, and known more recently for his Asian Pop Culture retail store, Gimme Gimme Pillow Toast.

Thanks to Greta, Tom, Andrew, Magic Cyclops, Biff, Chris, Brian, and all the other fine folks who made this show enjoyable.

Prints from this show are still available for sale via the Andenken Gallery web site. Click here for a direct link to the online catalog.
