Every September, the art galleries of Los Feliz, Silver Lake, & Echo Park in Los Angeles present The Art Crawl, which is a free, self-guided tour, open to the public, which showcases the art galleries in our area.

Located in Los Feliz, an eclectic community of artists, writers, actors, and musicians, The Derby hosted the kick-off party for The Art Crawl, and what a party it was...

Many performers graced the stage on Sept. 19th, including TV Sheriff (aka Davey Force/Dave Foss - video mixing whore!), Green Jello (aka Green Jelly) (psycho metal monsters), Nu-Tra (Devo-esque synth gods!), Simone Gad, and Freedom Corps. International.

The venue was packed all night, and the bar was constantly busy providing poisons to the masses. Neal X of Sigue Sigue Sputnik stopped by, as did the DiCaprios, Jerry Casale of Devo, and other interesting personalities.

Mark, however, could not make the opening due to an unexpected family matter in Ohio which came up literally at the last minute. However, he was very glad to hear that the party was a full-blown success.

Thanks to Amber Willow and Daniel Hebenstriet of The Derby who worked so hard to set all this up, and to everyone who made time to come out to the party! Here's to visiting you in LA soon...
